Sor was born in Battambang, Cambodia to Chhoeuy Choeun and Bou Khim on November 29, 1931. Then in 1951, he met and married the love his life, Yourn. They were married 69 years and had 7 children together.
In Cambodia, Sor worked as a farmer to support his family. Then in 1980, Sor moved his family to the US to provide them with greater safety and opportunity. The family lived in Chicago for 2 years and then moved to Midland, Texas where he worked for the City of Midland until his retirement at 62 years old. Afterwards, he and Yourn moved to Dallas to help raise their grandchildren.
Sor was quiet at times but he was always the most loving husband, father and grandpa. His laugh and smile would light up any room and anyone that met him would describe him as kind and happy. When he wasn’t playing with grandchildren, he enjoyed eating hamburgers, laughing at videos on his phone and watching football ... college, NFL, all of it. He was also very faithful, meditating every day and actively attending the Cambodian Buddhist Temple in Lewisville and Oak Cliff.
Sor is survived by his wife: Yourn Chhoeuy; his 7 children: Chornne Chhoeuy, Thounh Chhoeuy, San Sor, Chan Chhoeuy, Hunn Chhoeuy, Amanda Chhoeuy, and Don Chhoeuy; twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren.
The family of Sor is so thankful for love he brought into each of our lives and wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to all those who cared for him until the end. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
