Douglas Paul Witmer
January 17, 1949 – May 13, 2021
Douglas Paul Witmer, 72, of Coppell, TX, passed away peacefully in his bed on May 13th, 2021 after a long battle with heart and lung issues.
Douglas was born on January 17th, 1949 to Clarence and Gail Witmer in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating from Martinsville High School in 1966, he went on to serve his country in the Marine Corps graduating top of his class in Radar School. He was honorably discharged as an E-5 in 1969. He then went on to obtain his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science from Indiana University in 1974. He obtained his second Masters degree in Linguistics from University of Texas at Arlington in 1992. He spent most of his working career as a computer programmer, but his desire to learn always pushed him to new adventures. In the last year, he had achieved his Texas Private Security Bureau Level 3 License from Texas A&M. With that, he enjoyed going to his post each day up until his death. Sundays were his favorite day to go to church,and spend time with family. Through all of life's ups and downs, the Lord was always with him.
Douglas is survived by his siblings Marilyn, Ronald, Joseph, Dennis, John, Teresa, Anna and Howard. His children Doug Jr, Michael, Rebecca, David (wife Kelsey) and granddaughter Emsley.
