It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we share with you the passing of Sherran June Mize, nee Anderson, on 12/31/2020, after a bout with lung cancer, a stroke and COVID-19. She was retired from Freeman Decorating in Dallas, Texas.
Sherran was born 8/17/1943 to James Everett Anderson and June Lucille Albritton Anderson, and was a long-time resident of Garland, TX. She was preceded in death by both parents; her adoring husband, Jesse T. Mize, Jr.; her loving son, Samuel Ernest Spiropoulos; and first husband Ernest Spyros Spiropoulos.
She is survived by her daughter Angela Spiropoulos of Pompano Beach, Florida; stepdaughter, Carol Mize McGullion Free, Panorama Village, Texas; stepson, David T. Mize (Elizabeth), Willis, Texas; 2 half-siblings, Johnny and Susie; daughter-in-law Julia Spiropoulos, Dallas, Texas; sisters-in-law, Emma Moseley, Bangs, Texas and Lucy Coyle, currently of Rome, Georgia; two grandsons, Nicholas Ray Mize and Matthew Hathaway, four granddaughters, Amber “Kitty” Randall, Brianna Joy Emswiler, Juliana Faith Mize and Gabrianna Hope Mize; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Lee McGullion and Saphira Sky McGullion.
Sherran was an inspiration to many and a joy to everyone. She loved to talk and to take pictures – LOTS of pictures – and she passed that passion down to two more generations with Carol and Kitty. She also loved a good garage sale!
Sherran was a friend to everybody she met and she never met a stranger. She would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, much to Matthew’s chagrin.
Although she was a native Texan, she lived in California for a few years as a child and grew to love the state. One of her most cherished memories was when Sam and Julia took her there for vacation – she was in her element.
Rest in peace, sweet, dear friend; we miss you terribly but celebrate your life and your freedom from pain.
